All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Rush Springs Cemetery--Rush Springs OK Rush Springs Gazette 29 Jan 2004 Marvin Curtis, age 82 of Purcell passed away January 26, 2004 at his home. He was born February 16, 1921 in Rush Springs OK. He was the youngest of four children born to Moses Reason Curtis and Emma Belle Cast Curtis. He grew up on a farm near Rush Springs where he graduated from High School. He married Wenona Walling Curtis on Feb 26, 1944 in Marlow. He served in the US Army during WWII and was stationed in Germany and France. Marvin was awarded three Bronze Service Medals, the Good Conduct Medal and the EAME Service Ribbon. They lived in Rush Springs until 1958 when they moved to Purcell. While in Purcell he worked in the automobile business most of his live, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Purcell First Baptist Church and the Purcell Municipal Hospital Auxiliary. He enjoyed the outdoors where he like to fish and work in his yard. He was and avid baseball and OU football fan. Marvin's kind heart, generous spirit and gentle humor blessed and enriched all who knew and loved him. He will live forever in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Moses and Emma Curtis, two sisters, Bell Tedder and Faye Tedder, and one brother Lelan Curtis. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wenona; two daughters, Vickie Sander of Portland OR and Paula Roaten and husband Shelly of Irving TX; four grandchildren, Curtis Sander and his wife Becky, Lisa Sander, Kim Roaten; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2004 at Rush Springs Cemetery, Rush Springs OK. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Wilson Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell with Chaplain Rob mason officiating.
