Damie Carter was born May 8, 1919, and died on Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in Chickasha. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 16 June 2004 DAMIE CARTER Graveside services for Damie Carter, 85, of Chickasha, will be held Thursday, June 17, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the Laverty Cemetery, in Laverty, Oklahoma, with Melvin Elliott officiating. Damie Carter was born May 8, 1919, in Laverty, Oklahoma, the daughter of William T. and Lula Elliott. She died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in Chickasha. Damie grew up in the Laverty, Lake Burtschi, and Pioneer area. She attended school at the Freeman County School and Pioneer Public Schools. She married Roy Roger Carter in July of 1947, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Damie was self-employed most of her life, working as a seamstress and caregiver. She enjoyed working in her garden and flowerbeds in her spare time. She was a member of the Grady County Home Extension Club, a charter member of the Oklahoma Passenger Rail Association, and a member of the Northside Church of Christ. Damie was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, one sister, Fay Welborn, and one brother, Clinton Elliott. She is survived by two sons, Joe Carter of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, and Roger Elliott Carter of Chickasha; one daughter, Sherrie Ann Carter of Chickasha; two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
