Services were held Wednesday, May 17, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs, with Zac Priest officiating. Burial was in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. Katherine was born Tuesday, Jan.18, 1921, in Eldorado, to James F. and Viola Mae (Smith) Jones. Katherine married Lloyd Charles Carter on June 14, 1945 in Rush Springs, He preceded her in death on May 27, 2001. Katherine lived in the Rush Springs area all of her life. She graduated from Chickasha High School in 1939. Katherine worked for Jeff Davis Insurance for many years and was a secretary for Raymond Gibbs at the First National Bank, where she retired after 25 years of service. After her retirement, she served as secretary at the Southern Baptist Church and worked in the Rush Springs City Clerk's office. Katherine loved to read. She served on the library board and was one of the founding members of the sorosis study club. Katherine was a member of the Southern Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Survivors include, a son and daughter-in-law Mike and Pam Carter of Duncan, three grandchildren;, Kim and Billy Bayans of Republican, M., Josh Carter of Birmingham, Ala., and Summer and Zac Priest of Pawnee; of Pawnee, three great-grandchildren; Zachary and Carly Bayans and Hannah Priest; and several nieces, nephews and a cousin. Pallbearers were Jack Porter, Sam Darst, Robert Bosley, Josh Carter, Billy Bayans, and Zac Bayans.
