Charlson Oct. 13, 1922 - April 6, 2006 MARLOW - Owen R. Charlson, 83, of Marlow, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2006, in Marlow. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs with the Rev. Lynn Parkhurst officiating. Burial will be in Rush Springs Cemetery. ========= Marlow Review 13 Apr 2006 Owen R. Charlson Owen R. Charlson, 83, of Marlow passed away Thursday, April 6, 2006, in Marlow. Services were held Monday, April 10, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs, with the Rev. Lynn Parkhurst officiating. Burial was in the Rush Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. Owen was born Friday, Oct. 13, 1922, in Ninnekah to Ole Martin and Clara (Echols) Charlson. Owen grew up in Agawam and graduated from Kechi School. He played basketball for Kechi and refereed at Cox City for several years. He joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II. After his discharge, he married Charlean Morris of Agawam on June 21, 1946, in Duncan. She preceded him in death on Nov. 12, 2003. They moved to Cox City where he worked for Mack Oil Co. as a pumper for 32 years. After Owen's retirement, they moved to Rush Springs. He enjoyed watching football and basketball at Rush Springs and was a Sooner Fan. He could listen to two games at the same time and know exactly what was happening in each one. Owen was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; four brothers, Fred Charlson, Lawerence Charlson, Edwin Charlson and Martin Charlson; and three sisters-in-law, Juanita Charlson, Janye Charlson and Martha Charlson. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sherry Charlson of Rush Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Pat Kinsey of Duncan, and Joy and Howard Pierce of Guymon; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter, and a step-great-great-grandson. Pallbearers were Bennie Musgrove, Lonnie Pierce, Steven Collins, Danny Mercer, Wayne Newman and Coby King. Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Charlson, Pat Kinsey, Howard Pierce and Boyd Van DeMark.
