Elmer Alvin Charlton 1922 - 2005

Elmer Alvin Charlton Jan. 8, 1922 Dec. 9, 2005 Visitation for Elmer A. 
Charlton will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on 
Tuesday, December 13, 2005 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 
held in the Basham Funeral Care chapel on Wednesday morning, December 14, 
2005 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Elmer 
A. Charlton was born on January 8, 1922 in Minco, Oklahoma and he passed 
away on December 9, 2005. He was one of six children born to William and 
Cecil Charlton. They moved to Lamont, California when Elmer was a young 
man. Joining the Navy in 1941, he served two patrols during WWII as a 
Torpedo Man aboard the USS Sailfish Submarine. Returning home to Lamont, 
he met and married Imagene B. Lightle. They were married 50 years until 
her death in 1998. Elmer was a Boilermaker, working in water storage 
construction for 30 years. After retiring, Elmer and Jean (Imagene) 
traveled almost all over the United States. He is survived by his son, 
David E. Charlton; daughter, Gail E. Duncan; grandson, Brent D. Charlton; 
granddaughters, Katy J. Duncan, Keli R. Duncan and Kendra C. Duncan. The 
family wishes to thank everyone at Valley Convalescent Hospital for the 
compassionate care given to our father these past 10 months. He was loved 
by all that knew him and he will be deeply missed. For additional service
