She passed from this life on January 15, 2004. Rilla was the second of three daughters of Zack and Sally (Sain) Crumm. She grew up in a very loving and happy Christian family with her parents, sisters, and several close 'double' cousins. They lived on farms in the Laverty and Norge communities, west of Chickasha, Oklahoma. Rilla and her sisters loved school. She missed a year of school with rheumatic fever but still graduated from Pioneer High School in 1928 with her older sister, Jewell. Rilla was valedictorian of their class and Jewell was salutatorian. On May 6, 1933, Rilla married James Henry Estes. To this union, three children were born. In 1942, the family moved to the Edmond area where Henry and Rilla managed the Baptist Orphans Home farm. In November 1949, Henry and Rilla bought the store and gas station across the street form the Deer Creek School. They owned and operated Estes Grocery and Station until Henry's death in 1970. Rilla was well known in the Deer Creek area for her kindness, wit, hard work ethic, and her hamburgers... Also, her political views were well known to most of her faithful customers, especially those customers who weren't Democrat. Rilla moved to Yukon, Oklahoma in 1972. She continued her lifelong Christian standards at Yukon and became very active in the First Baptist Church of Yukon. There she taught Sunday School for most of her 22 years in Yukon. She began her next career as a cook in the Yukon school district where she continued until retirement at age 79. She leaves behind many friends and co-workers in the Yukon area. Rilla moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma in 1995 to spend more time with lifelong friends and relatives in the Chickasha area. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Henry Estes, 1970; daughter Sylvia Joy Estes Zimmerman, 1971; son Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame coach Henry Leroy 'Buzz' Estes, 1982; and sister Jewell Crumm Malone, 2001.
