Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ====================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 16 June 2001 Hattie Kilgore Davis Funeral service for Hattie Kilgore Davis, age 92, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2001, at the Epworth United Methodist Church. Rev. Danny Vaughan will officiate. Hattie Kilgore Davis was born on October 1, 1908, in Verden, Oklahoma, the daughter of Willis R. Kilgore and Ava Hollingsworth Kilgore. She died on Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in Chickasha. She married Leonard N. Davis on December 18, 1971, in Chickasha. Hattie attended Chickasha schools and graduated from Chickasha High School. She graduated from Oklahoma College for Women with a bachelor of arts degree and a bachelor of science degree. Hattie received her master's degree from Oklahoma University. She taught school for thirty-three years. Hattie taught American History for twenty-five years at Chickasha High School. She was remembered by her students for term papers. Hattie taught one semester at Oklahoma College for Women in the Home Economic Department. She was an area supervisor of USDA Food Preservation Program during World War II. Hattie was a field representative for Kerr Glass Manufacturing Corporation in the western part of the United States. In 1962, she became the Director of Research and Development for Kerr Glass until her retirement in 1972. Hattie was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Wedding Ring Class, United Methodist Women and the Yet Set. She was a former and current member of the following clubs: National Education Association, Oklahoma Education Association, Grady County Teacher Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Kappa Iota, National Home Economics Association, Oklahoma Home Economics Association, National Home Economist in Business, Oklahoma Home Economist in Business, American Women in Radio and Television, Pi Gamma Mu charter member, Chi Beta Delphian Club, Sorosis Club, Pilot Club, Tulsa Women's Civic Music Association, Tulsa Woman of the Day, American Association of University Women. Hattie was an Oklahoma 4-H State Alumni and a National 4-H Alumni. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Her husband, Leonard, preceded her in death on August 25, 1982. Survivors include her step-daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Steve Sexson, of Twenty-Nine Palms, California; step-son and daughter-in-law, Burns W. and Willie Davis, of Tulsa; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; cousin, Elmer Kilgore, of Chickasha; niece, Charlotte Ann Craig, of Conway, Arkansas; nephew, Merle W. Kilgore, of Nashville, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Gladys Kilgore, of Conway, Arkansas. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
