Opal Davis was born March 27, 1920, in Bowie, Texas, the daughter of Frank Welchel and Mamie Brown Welchel. She died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in Chickasha. Opal enjoyed cooking and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mamie Welchel; four brothers: Houston Welchel, Vo Welchel, Clarence Welchel and Thurman Welchel; and two sisters: Bernice Shiplet and Ruby Smith. Survivors include one son: David Sumner of Chickasha; one daughter: Darlene Bunnell of Chickasha; two grandsons: Tracy Bunnell and wife Melony of Chickasha and Scott Bunnell and wife Tricia of Chickasha; three great grandchildren, April Nightingale and husband Brandon of Chickasha; Drew Bunnell of Chickasha, and Mykenzi Bunnell of Chickasha; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
