Funeral services for Reverend Jerome Francis Dobry, O.S.B., 87, were held Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at St. Procopius Abbey in Lisle, Illinois. Francis Thomas Dobry was born to John and Mary (Novotny) Dobry, February 15, 1917, on the family farm south of Minco, Okla. He died December 29, 2004. His early education was in Minco schools and St. Joseph Academy in Chickasha. His higher education was received at St. Procopius College and Seminary. He was ordained a priest, December 17, 1944, and celebrated his first Mass December 27, 1944, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Chickasha. He celebrated his silver anniversary in 1969 and his golden year in 1994 with family and friends in Chickasha and Union City, Oklahoma. Father Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Holzer and Josephine Shirf, and seven brothers, Joseph, Anton, John, Jr., Leon, Elias, Edmond and Thomas. He is survived by two sisters, Frances Barker of Clam Gulch, Alaska, and Anne Napolitano and husband George of Chicago, Illinois. Burial will be in the Monastery Cemetery.
