DOUGHTY HELD FRIDAY Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Austin Doughty, 79, were held Friday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church at Verden with Rev. Marvin Willis officiating. Mrs. W. A. Finley and Mrs. Harry Dodson sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle." They were accompanied by Mrs. Don Brown, Mrs. Brown, accompanied by Mrs. Finley, sang "Face to Face." Pallbearers were Paul DeBoard, Harry Dodson, Houston Beene, Roy Wasson, Don Brown and Debs Patterson. Interment was in Verden Cemetery under the direction of Hansen's Funeral Home. Mrs. Doughty was born April 1, 1882 at Springtown, Parker County, Texas, and died Feb. 14 at Dungan's Nursing Home in Chickasha. She was married to Walter Doughty on Nov. 7, 1897 and moved to Chickasha in 1917 where they were in the wholesale grocery business. In 1929 they moved to Verden and operated a grocery store until the time of his death in 1954. Mrs. Doughty was a member of the Baptist Church and Eastern Star chapter.
