DeKINDER Funeral services for Phillip L. DeKinder, 82, of Chickasha, Okla., are pending with Ferguson Funeral Home. Phillip L. DeKinder was born May 9, 1921, and died on Friday, Aug. 29. 2003, in Oklahoma City, Okla. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 31 August 2003 PHILLIP L. DeKINDER Funeral services for Phillip L. DeKinder, 82, of Chickasha, will be held Tuesday, September 02, 2003, at 1:30 p.m., in the First Christian Church, with Gary Bell officiating. Phillip L. DeKinder was born May 9, 1921, in Chickasha, to Elmer Anton Dekinder and Elizabeth Abshire DeKinder. He died August 29, 2003, in Oklahoma City, after a short illness. Phillip DeKinder was a lifelong Chickasha resident. He attended Chickasha Public Schools, graduating from Chickasha High School in 1939. He married Marguerite Mathews in Chickasha on December 16, 1941. He then joined the Army Air Corps on December 22, 1941. He served in the Air Corps until November 4, 1945. After the War, he attended Oklahoma A&M (now OSU) and graduated in 1948, with a degree in marketing. During this time, he was also a member of the Air Force Reserves, in which he served from 1947 until his retirement as a lieutenant colonel in 1988. He returned to Chickasha where he joined his father, E. A. DeKinder, and brother Bill Dekinder in the family business, Peerless Press, from which he retired in 1997. Phillip, Elder Emeritus, of the First Christian Church was a good and faithful servant. He loved God, his Marguerite, family and church. Phillip was always committed to Chickasha sports, beginning with his own days as an athlete and continuing throughout his life. Phillip was preceded in death by both parents and six brothers. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jerry Adair, of Longview, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jacquie DeKinder, of Bethany, OK, and Colonel Dale and Donna DeKinder of Alexandria, VA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mable and Wesley Diggs, of Santa Rosa, CA, and Dorothy and J. C. Meador, of Houston, TX; sister- in-law, Bernetta DeKinder of Chickasha; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Aubrey Carter, of Grenada, MS; eight grandchildren and spouses. Ryan and Sandra Adair, Kyle and Robyn Eckermann, Mat DeKinder, Lucus DeKinder, Elizabeth DeKinder, Captain Danny and Stacy DeKinder and son, Colton, Dustin DeKinder and DeAnn DeKinder. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Christian Church in Chickasha, 202 South 6th, Chickasha, OK 73018.
