Evans was born in Whitley county, Kentucky 1856, was married to Miss Sue Vaughn 1878, to this union was born four children, three sons and one daughter, two of the sons preceded him to the world beyond, one son Earnest of Chickasha and one Daughter, Mrs. Martin Henry of this place and his wife survive him, beside this he leaves a large number of relatives and friends. He came to Oklahoma in 1903, locating in this vicinity where he has since resided. Uncle Johnny, as he was called, was a man of many noble qualities, he had no enemies and people learned to respect him for [his] honest upright life, he was a man who always attended to his own affairs and never meddled with others, he was a faithful member of the Baptist church. Mr. Evans had passed his three score of years and up to the time he was taken sick from which he died, he was never known to be very seriously sick, being of a strong robust character his death came as a great surprise to his friends. Mr. Evans was a good man, one which this community could ill afford to lose, but his master has called him home and to that decree we must all bow. His death took place Saturday morning, March 17th and funeral services were held at the Baptist church Monday at 8 o'clock, his pastor the Rev. Owen preaching the sermon, after which his body was laid to rest beside that of his son, Lee, in the City Cemetery, who preceded him ten years ago. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. To his sorrowing wife, son and daughter, we extend our most sincere sympathy. Submitted by Sandi Carter
