Wake service will be held 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2003, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Phyllis Martinez Nieto Evans was born February 21, 1929, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joseph and Antoinette (Avila) Martinez, and died January 18, 2003, in Chickasha. Phyllis attended the St. Joseph Mission Catholic School in Anadarko. She moved back to Chickasha in 1956. Phyllis worked at Grady Memorial Hospital for 35 years, eventually serving as LPN in respiratory therapy and later the radiology department. She was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church. Phyllis and Tommy Evans were married November 27, 1974, in Chickasha. She was preceded in death by: her first husband, Jesse P. Nieto, parents, Joseph and Antoinette Martinez, 3 brothers, Paul, Hank and Manuel Martinez. Survivors include: husband, Tommy Evans of the home; 2 daughters: Mary Nieto of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Rita and Wayne Challis of Tuttle, Oklahoma; 4 sons and their wives: David and Cecilia Nieto of Vian, Oklahoma, Jesse and Linda Nieto of Clear Lake, Texas, Bear and Taquita Nieto of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Mark and Beverly Nieto of Chickasha, Oklahoma; 4 sisters: Nona Tee and husband, Hinds, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Ramono Gonzalez and husband, Pete, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rose Marie Nieto of Haslett, Michigan, Betty Guy of Norman, Oklahoma; 1 brother: Phillip Martinez of Castleberry, Florida; 12 grandchildren, David P. Nieto, Phyllis C. Nieto, Misty Huffman, Jesse H. Nieto, MyRanda Haskell and husband Glenn, Bearren Nieto, Brittanie Evan Nieto, Marcus Nieto, Tyla Nieto, Angela Challis, Crystal Challis and Tommy Challis; 1 great grandchild, Jason Huffman; host of family and friends; special sister: Louise Lamb. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
