EPPERLY, PIONEER LAST RITES TUESDAY Funeral services for Mrs. John Epperly were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, at the First Baptist Church, Verden, with Rev. C. W. Taylor and Rev. Harold Watson officiating. Interment was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Epperly passed away at Hydro, Oklahoma on December 11, 1955. Music for the service was furnished by a quartet, Mrs. John N. Kern, Mrs. C. W. Hamill, Mrs. Dale Henricks and Mrs. Aubrey Finley, who sang "Have Thine Own Way," "Beautiful Isle" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. Ed Nelson was pianist. Casket bearers were Otto Sawyer, Virgil Howard, Henry Gaston, Roy Nicholas, Cecil Nicholas and Burley Sage. Ellen Elizabeth Brackett was born on March 22, 1867 at Stoutland, Missouri and passed away at the age of 88 years, nine months, and nine days. She was married to John Epperly who preceded her in death in 1937. The couple came to a farm northwest of Verden at the opening of the country where she lived until a few years ago when she moved to Hydro.
