All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Fairlawn Cemetery--Chickasha OK The Chickasha Express-Star Tuesday, September 6, 2005 DIXIE [ARNOLD] VAN ESS Funeral services for Dixie Van Ess, 77, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2005 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Dixie Van Ess was born August 18, 1928 in Arkansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Daniel Marvin and Lora Jean (Smith) Arnold and died Sunday, September 4, 2005 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dixie graduated from Central High School, Oklahoma City, in 1945. She graduated from O.S.U. with a Bachelors of Education and was president of Chi Omega Sorority. She received her teaching certificate from U.S.A.O. and received her masters degree in counseling psychology from U.C.O. and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Dixie and John Karn Van Ess III were married February 10, 1950 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. They came to Chickasha in the early 1950s. She later taught 3rd grade at Northwest School. She was also an active member of the Junior Social Workers, Chickasha Art Guild and the Chi Omega Alumni Association. She was an accomplished artist and painter and she was active in Panhellnic for Grady County. She has lived in Oklahoma City for the last 3 years. Dixie taught dancing and loved to dance. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She loved to travel and took many trips in the United States and Europe to paint. She was a great mom and nana, was dearly loved and will always be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Van Ess III, and a sister, Pat White. Survivors include: 2 daughters, Kerry Van Ess, of Oklahoma City, OK, Kevin Van Ess, of Oklahoma City, OK, 2 sons, Karl Van Ess and his wife, Paula, of Chickasha, OK, Dan Van Ess, of Chicago, Illinois, grandchildren, Chris Van Ess and his wife, Sarah, of Chickasha, OK, Heather Van Ess, of Chickasha, OK, Blair Humphrey, of Oklahoma City, OK, Amity Humphrey, of Oklahoma City, OK, great grandson, Holden Van Ess, of Chickasha, OK.
