EDELBLUTE Helen J. Edelblute, 92, a former Manhattan and Garden City, KS resident, passed away Friday, February 4, 2005 at the Kansas Christian Home, Newton, KS. She was born June 15, 1912 at Denver, CO, the daughter of William H. Joseph and Myrtle Shell Joseph. She grew up in Wyoming, where she received her elementary and secondary education. She later attended Kansas State Agricultural College, Manhattan, and graduated with a BS degree in Home Economics. While attending Kansas State, she met and married Dale H. Edelblute on July 21, 1935 at Manhattan. He survives. Mrs. Edelblute lived in several communities in Kansas while following her husband's career as an agronomy specialist with Kansas State University. They spent many years in Garden City before retiring and moving back to Manhattan in 1980. They had been living in Newton since 1997. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Manhattan. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Dorothy Benson Ventura. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Edelblute is survived by two sons, David J. Edelblute, and his wife, Judy, San Diego, CA and Phillip R. Edelblute, and his wife, Patricia, Chickasha, OK; four grandchildren, Thomas J. Edelblute, Scott D. Edelblute, Jennifer Edelblute-Clarke and Jessica Edelblute; and a niece, Harriet A. Benson. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2005 in the Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan. Burial will be in the Sunrise Cemetery. The Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, Manhattan was in charge of arrangements.
