Edwards Our husband and father, Robert N. Edwards, was born March 20, 1930 in Alva, Oklahoma to Robert and Nora Edwards. Born and raised in Alva, Bob had an innate love of flight and this interest showed itself in the first grade as an award for a project involving aircraft. Flying before licensed, he earned his license at the earliest possible age. His love for aviation was equally divided between keeping a "bird" flying and actually soaring through the sky. His love for aviation eventually directed his sojourn toward Northrop Institute in California what would begin a forty-nine year journey with his wife, Nancy. Aviation continued to dominate his married life as they brought four boys into the world -- James, Michael, Robert and William. Robert served with Oklahoma's 45th Infantry Army National Guard and was called to duty in the Korean Conflict. A patriot, Bob continued serving his country as a civilian contractor in Vietnam. Retired from General Motors, Bob dedicated his time to the people and friends of Pocasset. These moments of "city business" in the local coffee shop allowed his love for community to blossom. His love extended to his grandchildren, Michelle, Jeremy, April, Alex, Lindsay, and Jamie. As Bob has been set free from his earthly restraints, he surely is visiting his first great grandchild due to be born next month. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nora Edwards, his siblings, Dorothy Lee, Roberta Evans, and Otho Edwards. Pocasset will still have Bob as his remains will lay in rest at the Pocasset Cemetery. His family wishes the citizens and friends of Pocasset to understand their positive influence they had. Bob's lifelong desire was to have his ashes spread over Alva, the town where he had been raised, upon his passing. This lifelong request was recently amended to remain in Pocasset and for that our family holds his friends in the highest and most respected regard. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Grady County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/grady/grady.html
