All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Fairlawn Cemetery--Chickasha OK Jean Josephine Shipley Ewing Memorial service for Jean Josephine Shipley Ewing, 83, of Ninnekah, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at the Ninnekah United Methodist Church. Jean Josephine Shipley Ewing was born April 22, 1919, in Amber, Oklahoma, the daughter of Guy S. and Ida Jean (Grant) Shipley, and died November 10, 2002, at her home in Ninnekah. Mrs. Ewing lived in Grady County all of her life. She graduated from Amber High School, and from Oklahoma College for Women, now USAO, in 1940. She and Oron W. Ewing were married May 20, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Ewing taught school for 30 years. She taught for 3 years with her husband at College Mound near Rush Springs, for 7 years at Pioneer School with her husband, and they taught for many years at Fairview. After her husband retired, she taught at Friend and Amber- Pocasset. Mrs. Ewing retired from teaching in 1971. After her retirement, she worked at her local voting precinct as a counter. Mrs. Ewing was a member of the Ninnekah United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the local and state Retired Teacher’s Association. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers: Grant Shipley, Vergil Shipley; 1 sister, Helen Redding. Survivors include: 1 daughter, Sandra Jean Ewing and son-in-law, Bill Reichardt of Lawton, Oklahoma; 1 sister, Doris Early of Amber, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews Services are under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
