All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution November 12, 2002 Jean Josephine Shipley Ewing NINNEKAH — Memorial service for Jean Josephine Shipley Ewing, 83, Ninnekah, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ninnekah United Methodist Church. Mrs. Ewing died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at her home. Arrangements are by Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha. She was born April 22, 1919, in Amber, to Guy S. and Ida Jean Grant Shipley. She lived in Grady County all of her life. She graduated from Amber High School, and from Oklahoma College for Women in 1940. She married Oron W. Ewing on May 20, 1940. He died in 1991. She taught school for 30 years, and retired in 1971. She and her husband taught three years at College Mound, seven years at Pioneer School and many years at Fairview. After her husband retired, she taught at Friend and Amber- Pocasset. After retirement, she worked as a counter at her local voting precinct. She was a member of Ninnekah United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the local and state Retired Teacher’s Association. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Jean and Bill Reichardt, Lawton; a sister, Doris Early, Amber; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Grant Shipley and Vergil Shipley; and a sister, Helen Redding.
