FITZGERALD PASSES AWAY TUESDAY R. A. Fitzgerald last rites were held Wednesday afternoon at 230 at the Baptist church with Rev. C. W. Taylor officiating. The music was furnished by Mrs. J. N. Kern, Mrs. R. M. Caldwell, Mrs. Ed MaGuire and Mrs. Wright and Mrs. I. H. Bilbrey at the piano. Robert A. Fitzgerald was born in Hamilton County, near Chatagooga, Tenn. June 26, 1855 passed away at the home of his son, Ira Fitzgerald, north-east of Verden, Dec. 8th, 1942 at the age of 87 years, 5 months, and 12 days. His early life was spent in Tennessee moving to Texas in 1884. On Nov. 19, 1885, at Decatur, Texas, he was united in marriage to Lula A. Mason, who preceded him in death in January of 1939. To this union were born seven children, one son having passed away in infancy. He was united with the Baptist church in early life. He moved to Okla. near Waurika in 1902 and in 1926 to near Verden, where he spent the remainder of his life. Those left to mourn his departure are 2 daughters, Mrs. Maggie Pharris of Ninnekah and Mrs. Lorena Caruthers of Verden. Four sons, Henry of Minco, Martin of Pocasset, Ira and Orland of Verden. One sister Mrs. Margaret Bollen of Chatanooga, Tenn., 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, also a host of other relatives and friends. The casket bearers were the grandchildren. Burial was made in the Verden Cemetery with Hansen Funeral Home in charge. Submitted by Sandi Carter
