Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs, with Cliff Werhan officiating. Burial was held at the Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs under the direction of Callaway-Smith- Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. James was born Wednesday, Oct. 5, 1932, in Kilgore, Texas, to Fred and Mary (Walker) Fleener. James lived in Texas before moving to Rush Springs in 1984. He worked in the oil field as a driller. James married Sharon Stringfellow on July 14, 1984, in Rush Springs. He loved to play golf, watch football and spend time with his family. He was a Mason and a member of the Baptist Church. James was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Fred Fleener, Jr. Survivors include his wife ,Sharon Fleener, of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Fred and Ida Fleener of Odessa, Texas, and Jimmy Fleener of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and John Duffy of Odessa, Texas; three grandchildren, Carrie and Cory O'Neal, Fred Fleener IV, and Whitney Faith Fleener; two great-grandchildren, Jordyn O'Neal and Logan O'Neal; and a sister, Brenda Cyr of Arizona. Other surviving relatives are Michael Lackey, Jennifer Houde and John Lackey.
