Alma was born Sept. 9, 1905, and died on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005. Services are under the direction of the McRay's Verden Funeral Home. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 14 January 2005 ALMA MAE FLOWERS Funeral service for Alma Mae Flowers, age 99, of Verden, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2005, at the Verden First Baptist Church. Rev. Tommy Ray Buchanan will officiate, and Rev. Ed Whitley will assist. Alma Mae was born the daughter of Charlie L. Carothers and Sarah Hughes Carothers on September 6, 1905, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. She died on January 12, 2005. Alma married Pete Authur Conta, who preceded her in death in 1936. To this union was born one daughter, Helen Mae Conta, who preceded her in death at the age of eighteen months. She later married Herschel Flowers. Herschel preceded Alma in death in 1980. Alma grew up in the Sulphur area and moved to Verden in 1925. Alma worked at the hospital in Chickasha, worked as a waitress, and raised cattle with her husband. She was a member of the Verden First Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Simon Lee Carothers, L. C. Carothers, Jack Carothers, and one sister, Flossie Parlee Maupin. Survivors include her sister, Viola Vee Blevins, of Verden, and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha.
