All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 26 February 2003 RUBY ROSETTA GIBSON Graveside funeral service for Ruby Rosetta Gibson, age 91, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2003, in Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Kim Domick and Rev. Don Horton will officiate. The family will begin receiving friends at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the McRay Funeral Home with an informal time of sharing beginning at 7:00 p.m. Ruby was born on October 10, 1911, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, the daughter of Oscar Andrews Ferguson and Rosetta Melissa Norman Ferguson. She died on Monday, February 24, 2003, in Chickasha. Ruby grew up in Anadarko and graduated from Anadarko High School. She married William Wesley "Jack" Gibson on February 4, 1933, in the Methodist Church in Anadarko, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church for sixth years, Wedding Ring Class, and the Yet Set Group. Ruby traveled in the church bus on many trips with the Yet Set. She served as a Girl Scout leader, cooked for Little League baseball program, and the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 54, Chickasha, Oklahoma. She served as president, chairman, and helped supply the weekly lunch dinners. Ruby's personality was centered in love for her family. She always had a helping hand for those ill or in need. Ruby was a very skilled seamstress, an avid reader, spent many hours crocheting, quilting and embroidering, and was a great sports and bowler fan. She loved writing stories of her childhood and sharing her thoughts in poems. Ruby had a sharp mind and loved company. She was a delightful and fun grandmother. Ruby will live in our recalled stories, memories and hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, her husband, William Wesley "Jack" Gibson, in 1974 and one son, Wesley Gene Gibson in 2002. Survivors include: daughter and husband: Lora Lea and LeRoy Kelson of Stockton, Missouri; daughter and husband: Darlene and Richard Austin of Grayslake, Illinois; sister: Estella Rogers of Woodline, Maryland; daughter-in-law: Judy Gibson of Norman; grandson and wife: Aaron and Lisa Gibson of Tulsa; grandsons: Ryan and Adam Gibson of Norman; granddaughter and husband: Misty and Chris Wessels of Grayslake, Illinois; granddaughter and husband: Wendi and Jeff Gearing of Libertyville, Illinois; grandson: Rick Austin of Arcada, California; great grandchildren: Jessica Meyer of Grayslake, Illinois, Tommy Wessels of Grayslake, Illinois, Austin and Abigayle Gearing of Libertyville, Illinois; faithful guardians: Tom and Sandy Murray and Mavis Miller Clark; many nieces, nephews, friends, and cousins filled her life. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
