All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 23 January 2005 IRENE GIBBONS Funeral service for Irene Gibbons, age 96, of Verden, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2005, in the First Baptist Church of Verden. Rev. Johnny Wray will officiate, and Dr. Samuel Carmack will assist. Irene Gibbons was born the daughter of J. M. Stephens and Alice Simpson Stephens on March 8, 1908, in Nacona, Texas. She died on January 20, 2005, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Irene grew up in the Nacona, Texas, area. She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. Irene married Roy L. Gibbons on August 11, 1928, in Wichita Falls, Texas. They lived on a farm two miles east of Verden for forty-seven years. She was a member of the Verden First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Irene was active in the Democratic Women's Club of Grady County. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, C. A. Stephens and V. B. Stephens, sister and brother-in-law, Oleta S. and Bob Carmack, brother and sister-in-law, Robert J. and Lorene Stephens, and her husband, Roy L. Gibbons. Survivors include: daughter, Mary Alice Jackson, attorney, of Anadarko; granddaughter, Suzanne Jackson, of Anadarko; grandson, Ben Jackson, attorney, of Ada; grandson, Dr. Roy Jackson, of Edmond; two great grandchildren, Robert and Mary Jackson, of Ada; niece, Patricia Carmack Ross, of Edmond; nephew, Stephen Carmack, of Edmond; nephew, Dr. Samuel Carmack, of Fort Worth, Texas; nephew, Robert Joel Stephens, of Anadarko; nephew, Judge David Stephens, of Anadarko. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha. Service will be under the direction of the McRay's Verden Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roy L.
