Glisson Pearl E. Glisson died September 9, 2001, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 94. She was born in Bristow, on September 26, 1906, to Joseph Arch Mays and Elizabeth Wilson Mays. Pearl had lived in Bristow for the last thirty-one years, until recently moving to Houston for health reasons. She married Felix "Pete" Glisson on January 17, 1941, and owned several grocery stores in Texas and Oklahoma, but retired as a dietitian for the Jane Brooks School for the Deaf in Chickasha. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, was active in the Republican Party, loved to travel and ceramics. Pearl is survived by one daughter, Patricia Dowling and her husband, Gary, of Houston; three grandchildren, Rick Dowling and his wife, Sandy, Tim Dowling and his wife, Debbie, and Michelle Dubiski and her husband, Brian; seven great grandchildren, Codey, Taylor, Garrett, Jake, Chase, Madison and Ty; several nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Pete", two brothers, Roy and Paul Mays, and two sisters, Ina Sawyer and Mae Wade. Funeral service will be Friday, September 14, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. in the First Free Will Baptist Church, Bristow, Oklahoma, with Reverend Roy Bingham and Reverend Gene Jackson officiating. Interment will be at the Bristow City Cemetery under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home, Bristow, Oklahoma (918) 367-2244.
