Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ====================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 12 June 2001 Mary Virginia Goltry Mary Virginia Goltry, 84, of Caldwell, Kansas, died June 8, 2001, at Via-Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Mary Virginia Scott was born January 26, 1917, in Carnegie, Oklahoma. She grew up on the family farm with her sisters Rubie, Hallie and Frances and her brother James. A lifetime learner, she graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in 1938, where she majored in vocational home economics. Upon graduation she taught home economics in Amber, Oklahoma, where she met and married H.J. "Bud" Goltry on December 22, 1940. In 1947, Bud, Mary and Steve moved to Caldwell and operated a wheat and cow/calf operation until 1984. During this time she taught at Drury, South Haven, Hahn and Caldwell Schools. She always sought to ensure her students became the best they could be. Outside of the classroom, she volunteered her time and talents to 4-H for many years. Mary was active in the United Methodist Church. Since her husband's death in 1991, she served as a founding member of the Caldwell Care Network. Mrs. Goltry is survived by her sister Hallie Sanders of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and her brother James D. Scott of Verden, Oklahoma, as well as her two sons, Stephen of Ames, Iowa, and Scott of Wichita, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at the United Methodist Church in Caldwell, Kansas. Rev. Diana Hill officiated. Adam Goltry, violinist, played "Amazing Grace." Gloria White served as organist. Karen Sturm sang "My Tribute." Congregational hymns were, "So Still My Soul" and "Hymn of Promise." Honorary casket bearers were Maxine Krenek, Nadeen Johnson, Jennie Futhey, Kathy Risley and Gladys Grimm. Casket bearers were Glenn Johnson, Willis Kerr, Milton Futhey, Loren Kuehny, Marvin Kloefkorn, Don White and Bryan Goltry. Interment was in the Caldwell City Cemetery under the direction of the Elliott-Schaeffer Mortuary. Memorials may be given in Mary's name to the Caldwell Care Network or to the United Methodist Church of Caldwell.
