Chuck Fletcher On Sunday, May 30th, Jewel Guinn passed away at the Chickasha Nursing Center. Prior to her death, Heartland Hospice had provided 24 hour care so she would not be alone in her last days. Many times during the day and at night, the nurses and aides at Chickasha Nursing Center would stop by and rub her brown and kiss her, along with telling her that they loved her. Mrs. Guinn passed with no famiy able to be present -- her family proved to be the staff at Chickasha Nursing Center. There was not a write-up in the paper or a service performed. Mrs. Guinn was gone, but not forgotten. On this past Wednesday at 2 p.m., the Chickasha Nursing Center held a Memorial Service for Mrs. Guinn, which was attended by all of the staff and residents. The chaplains at Heartland, Bill Long, Chuck Fletcher and Social Worker Rev. John Wise, led the service. There was prayer, music of praise, an obituary, and a message was given. Many of those in attendance told stories of joy about their experience with Mrs. Guinn. We closed with a prayer request by one of the residents of the nursing home. We held hands with one another with some sharing tears about their loss of Mrs. Guinn. She is gone, but not forgotten by those that loved her at Chickasha Nursing Center and Heartland Hospice. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Grady County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/grady/grady.html
