Virginia Gaines, 82, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Westlawn Cemetery in Borger, Texas, with the Rev. Ricky Griffin, pastor of Grace Fellowship Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Gaines was born May 16, 1921, in Chickasha, Okla. She was a retired nurse's aide at North Plains Hospital in Borger. She loved cooking for the Phillips Blackhawks and being a member of Fairlanes Baptist Church, Eastern Star and Golden Spread Grandmothers Club. She had been a Borger resident for 60 years before moving to California to be closer to her family. Survivors include two sons, Sam Gaines of San Jacinto and Don Gaines of Fresno; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, who all affectionately called her "Grannie."
