Belford Warren Gentry, 86, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2001, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Belford Gentry was born September 9, 1914, in Weaubleau, Missouri, the first son of William and Hazel Gentry, and died Saturday, July 21, 2001, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The Gentry family moved to Oklahoma where Belford graduated from Chickasha High School. He married Mildred on November 26, 1938, in Amarillo, Texas. During World War II, Belford served in the U.S. Navy and upon discharge returned to Chickasha to establish permanent residence. He developed businesses with his brother and father in the Marlow and Chickasha areas and with them founded Gentry Body and Trailer Company. They owned the business until retirement. Belford was always active in the community and involved in the interests of his children. He was one of the founding fathers of the Little League program in Chickasha. Many of Chickasha's current baseball parks are a testimony to his and his friends' early efforts. Belford considered one of his greatest privileges was to serve Chickasha as a city councilman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Mildred; parents, William and Hazel Gentry; 2 sisters: Rhama and Alice; and one of his dearest friends, his brother, Buford. Those who survive Belford and will cherish his memory are his children, Coleen Adcock and husband, Bob, of Riverside, CA, and Bill Gentry and wife, Sonya, of Stillwater, OK; six grandchildren: Joe and Gary Adcock, Erin, Sara, Jordan and Anna Gentry. One great grandson Tyler Adcock and extended family also survive him.
