All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 5 May 2003 LORRAINE JEANNETTE GRIFFIN Funeral services for Lorraine Jeannette Griffin, 90, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at the Epworth United Methodist Church. Mrs. Griffin was a homemaker, loving mother of four sons, and an active member of several civic clubs. Lorraine was born December 20, 1912, on Coalgate, Oklahoma, and died May 3, 2003, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of J. W. and Emma Quirk. She grew up in Krebs, Oklahoma, and graduated from McAlester High School. She was a charter member of the Wedding Ring Class, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Shepherding program -- all of the Epworth United Methodist Church of Chickasha. She was also a member of the Pro Musica Series, P.E.O., Junior Social Workers, Grady County League of Women Voters, and the Grady County Republican Party. In addition, she was a proud member of the Sorosis Club, which was co-founded in 1896 by her mother-in-law, Mrs. J. H. Griffin. Lorraine and Sam E. Griffin were married on May 17, 1935, in McAlester, Oklahoma. They later moved to Chickasha, where she attended Oklahoma College for Women (OCW) for a short time. Several years later they relocated to Chickasaw, Alabama, and in 1962 they returned to Chickasha where she spent the remainder of her life in the family home. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, J. W. and Emma Quirk, her brother Lloyd Quirk, her eldest son, Douglas E. Griffin. Survivors include Mary Ann Griffin, wife of the late Douglas E. Griffin and their two sons and daughters-in-law Patrick and Jacqueline Griffin of Burlington, VT; Michael and Stacia Griffin of Arlington, VA; James E. and Karen Bills Griffin of Dallas, TX and their daughter Nancy Jeannette Griffin of Austin, TX; Sam M. and Carol Griffin and their three sons Sam J., Daniel, and Matthew Griffin, all of Chickasha, OK; Stan and Janet Griffin and their four children, Ryan, Aaron, Kathryn and Regan Griffin, all of Rock Port, MO; and four great granddaughters Faulkner Ann and Emily Dylan Griffin of Burlington, VT, Georgia Jean and Anne Lorraine Griffin of Arlington, VA. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
