Elwood Hopkins was born Aug. 29, 1918, and died on Sunday, May 23, 2004. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 25 May 2004 ELWOOD HOPKINS Funeral service for Elwood Hopkins, 85, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2004, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Elwood Hopkins was born August 19, 1918, in Roosevelt, Oklahoma, the son of Leo and Mary (Smith) Hopkins, and died May 23, 2004, at his home in Chickasha. Mr. Hopkins came to Chickasha in 1938. He and Mary Sams were married in 1944 in Chickasha. He worked for Chickasha Cotton Oil Company and then went to work for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, retiring in 1980. He later worked for Standridge John Deere Equipment Company of Chickasha. Mr. Hopkins served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was also a member and past president of the Lion's Club and a member of the Chickasha Masonic Lodge, where he served as a Past Worthy Patron and received his 50 year pin. Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Mary Hopkins of the home; one daughter and her husband, Mary Ann and Wayne Crull of St. Louis, Missouri; one son, Jim Hopkins of Chickasha; four sisters, Blanche Vincent and husband Ralph of Edmond, Oklahoma, Betty Smith and husband Carl of Irving, Texas, Wilma Wood of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Patricia Bowers and husband James of Midwest City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Paul Hopkins, David and Naoko Crull, Matthew Crull, and Elizabeth Crull; and one great grandchild, Kai Crull.
