Hopkins, 82 of Chickasha. Hopkins was born Sept. 6, 1923 in Bridgeport, Okla. and died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 in Chickasha. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. ========= Chickasha Express-Star Sunday, 18 December 2005 Leona Alma Hopkins Funeral services for Leona A. Hopkins, 82, of Chickasha, will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Doug Sikes officiating. Leona A. Hopkins was born September 6, 1923, in Bridgeport, Oklahoma, the daughter of Rudolph Wendt and Lena Pack Wendt. She died Friday, December 16, 2005, in Chickasha. Leona came to the Chickasha area as a small child. She grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. After high school graduation she attended and graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, now known as U.S.A.O. with a degree in Elementary Education. She married Jack Hopkins on December 15, 1941, in Purcell, Oklahoma. Leona taught the elementary grades third and fourth at South School and retired from the Chickasha Public School System in 1981, after thirty years of teaching. In her later years she enjoyed attending swimming classes and going to the movies with her friends. She was a member of the North Side Churchof Christ and the Oklahoma Retired School Teachers Association. Leona was preceded in death by both parents. Her husband Jack also preceded her in death on November 11, 1994. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Connie Hopkins, of Trinity, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Manuel Ferrales, of Guthrie, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Jessica Garrett, of Oklahoma City; two great aunts, Dorothy and Bessie, both of Manhattan Beach, California and a sister-in-law, Eddie Klinksiek, of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
