Thomas (Tom) James Hickey was born June 27, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, and died March 4, 2003. Interment will be held in the Rose Hill cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 6 March 2003 THOMAS (TOM) JAMES HICKEY Graveside service for Thomas (Tom) James Hickey, 78, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2003, at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Holy Name Section, Chickasha. Rev. Elmer Schwarz will officiate and Bro. Domanic will assist. Hickey was born June 27, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, and shortly thereafter moved back to Grady County, Oklahoma. He was the son of Tom and Mary (Laflin) Hickey and died March 4, 2003. Mr. Hickey was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church, a 3rd & 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and a member of the American Legion Post #54. He had volunteered with the Boy Scouts, Grady County Historical Society, the Festival of Lights and had been a member of the Elks Club. He graduated from St. Joseph's Academy, Chickasha. Mr. Hickey served in the U. S. Army for 2 years and the 45th Division of the Oklahoma National Guard with a total of 33 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. He also worked 14 years for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. For 25 years, he was a rare blood donor. He married Joyce Kastner on December 27, 1975. Mr. Hickey was preceded in death by: Parents and 1 sister, Peggy Helton. Survivors include: Wife: Joyce Hickey of the home, 3 stepchildren: Stephen Kastner of El Paso, Texas, Karen Spears of Mesquite, Texas, Jane Firth of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2 sisters: Kathleen Moffat of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ruth Wrona of Chicago, Illinois; Nieces, nephews and good neighbors and friends; Chickasha relatives: Vernon, Gloria and Rick Hoover. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Holy Name Section, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the home for the handicapped: The Center of Family Love, P. O. Box 145, Okarche, OK 73762 or to: America Legions Boys Home-Ponca City, Oklahoma.
