[Neal] Hughes Graveside service for Maple B. Hughes, 93, of Pratt, Kansas, former Alex resident, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2002 at the Alex Cemetery. Maple B. Hughes was born July 20, 1908, in Moore, Oklahoma, the daughter of John and Ruth (Roggers) Neal, and died February 18, 2002, in Pratt, Kansas. Mrs. Hughes graduated from Alex High School in 1927. She received her teaching certificate in 1928. Mrs. Hughes taught school in a one-room school. She and Charles William (Charley) Hughes were married May 18, 1929. He preceded her in death in 1963. She was a member of the Alex Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Hughes was also preceded in death by: 1 daughter: Charlene McKee; brothers and sisters: Jake Neal, Anna Hughes, Elsie Stubblefield and Dioey Neal. Survivors include: children: Dicey O. Howell, of Norman, Oklahoma, DiAnn Moore, of Pratt, Kansas; 1 brother: Tom Neal, of Oklahoma City; 1 sister: Alice Hughes, of Alex, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
