All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Bakersfield Californian 4 July 2004 ALTHA LEE SMITH HUGHES July 16, 1915 - July 2, 2004 Altha Smith Hughes was born July 16, 1915 in Chickasha, Oklahoma and went to be with her Lord on July 2, 2004 in Bakersfield, California. She was a resident of Kern County most of her life. She was active at the Rasmussen Senior Center for many years preceding her illness. Many of her activities at the Rasmussen Senior Center included: booking, dancing, playing bingo, dancing, directing travel tours, dancing, assisting friends with tax preparation, (she loved dancing). She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Bryson and husband Ron; son, Eugene Smith and wife Jan; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brother, Brad Blackwood and wife Beverly. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Archie Hughes and Ishmael Smith; her parents, and sister, Bobbie Long. We all love you, will miss you deeply and know that you are now in a better place with loved ones and without pain. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
