Don Hightower was born Jan. 1, 1937, in Chickasha, and died on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2003, at his home east of Chickasha. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of McRay Funeral Home ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 31 January 2003 DON HIGHTOWER Funeral service for Don Hightower, age 66, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2003, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gary Layman will officiate. Don was born the son of Woodrow F. Hightower and Lela Bell Allen Hightower on January 1, 1937, in Chickasha. He died on Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at his home east of Chickasha. Don lived in the Chickasha area all of his life. He attended Friend School, where he played basketball. After high school, he entered the United States Army to serve his country. Don coached Chickasha Little League baseball for many years. In 1976, he coached the Chickasha Little League State Championship Baseball Team. Several years later, he was inducted into the Oklahoma Little League Baseball Hall of Fame. Don was a barber in the Chickasha community for forty years. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lela and Woodrow Hightower, one brother, Jimmy Allen Hightower, and one daughter: Vicky Don Hightower. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law: Dean and Patty Hightower of Littleton, Colorado; son and daughter-in-law: Doyle and Lisa Hightower of Chickasha; son: Heath Hightower of Chickasha; daughter: Charissa Hightower of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren: Paige, Colin, and Kaley Hightower; sister-in-law: Bertha Hightower of Chickasha; uncle: Clinton Hightower of Tuttle; uncle: Rudy Hightower of Elgin; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family; mother of Dean and Doyle: Sandy McCracken of Chickasha; mother of Charissa and Heath: Debbie Ridge of Denton, Texas. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
