Jim Sheerer will officiate. Cora was born August 27, 1929, the daughter of Frank Otto Sherwood and Edna Pearl Bell Sherwood. She died October 4, 2004, in Oklahoma City. She married Jacob Hawkins on October 13, 1950, in Durham, Oklahoma. Cora grew up in Moorewood, Oklahoma and attended school in Hammon, Oklahoma. After graduating from Hammon High School, she attended Southwestern State University at Weatherford. Cora transferred to Central State University in Edmond and graduated with a Bajchelor of Science in Education. She then returned to Southwestern State in Weatherford and received her master's degree. Cora was a teacher for thirty-one years. During this time, she taught at Oklahoma City, Durham, Liberty Center, as well as New Mexico and Kansas. Cora was a member of the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. She is survived by four sons, Frank Hawkinsd of Johnson, Kansas; Joseph Hawkins of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Hugh Hawkins of Ulysses, Kansas; Thomas Hawkins of Garden City, Kansas; one daughter, Nancy Winchester of Liberal, Kansas; one brother, Durwood Sherwood of Hammon, Oklahoma; two sisters, Betty Maxwell of Rosemond, California and Frances Ferrell of Leedey, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
