All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Ft Custer National Cemetery--Augusta MI Duncan Banner 16 Apr 2002 Troy Bruce Hutchins STURGIS, Mich. — Troy Bruce Hutchins, 81, of Sturgis died Sunday, April 14, 2002, in Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers, Mich. Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Kimball Chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis with the Rev. Lowell Walsworth, the Rev. Keith Treman and the Rev. Robert Keim officiating. Graveside service will follow in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Mich. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Hackman-Fogleson Funeral Home in Sturgis. Mr. Hutchins was born on Jan. 31, 1921, in Harold, Texas, to Judge and Minnie Ross Hutchins. He married Katherine Roberson on May 5, 1946, in Hoppkinsville. She preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 1995. Mr. Hutchins retired from the Mobil Oil Co. after many years of dedicated employment. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a tank driver in the U.S. Army. He earned the rank of Tec-5 and was awarded the Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a dedicated father and grandpaw and was active as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader and a Little League Coach. He had resided in Sturgis for a year and a half, coming from Duncan. He had previously lived in Chickasha. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, DeWayne and Brenda Bowen Hutchins of Sturgis; a granddaughter, Kim Pack of Weatherford; a niece, Mary Sachse and her husband, Jim, of San Antonio, Texas; and loving and caring friends, Truman and Laura Schrock of Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; and a daughter, Jana Hutchins.
