Dakota Avenue, Chickasha. Ewilder Daniels was born Sept. 8, 1910, in Texas, and died on Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Shannon Springs Nursing Home in Chickasha. Services are under the direction of Brown/Christian Funeral Home. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 10 January 2003 EWILDER HOLLOWAY Funeral services for Ewilder Holloway, 92, of Chickasha, Oklahoma Home, will be held Saturday, January 11, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 101 East Dakota Avenue, Chickasha, Oklahoma. Ewilder Daniels was born unto Willis and Missy Daniels on September 9, 1909, in Franklin, Texas. She moved, with her parents, to Chickasha, Oklahoma, in 1923. While in Chickasha, Ewilder, at an early age, united with the Mount Olive Baptist Church where she served faithfully. Ewilder Daniels united in holy matrimony to Namon Holloway. The couple made their home in Kansas City, Missouri. After the death of her husband, Ewilder returned to Chickasha. Ewilder was affectionately called "Mother Holloway." Young people, as well as many older individuals, remembered her patience and kindness. She was instrumental in the mentoring and guidance of many youth in the community of Chickasha. She was very active with the Mount Olive Baptist Church where she served as Church Clerk, choir member, past president of the general mission, and assistant Secretary of the general mission. Outside of Mother Holloway's local community, she served as President of the New Hope District Women's Convention. She was a teacher-training instructor in the School of Christian Education, and chairperson of the President's Council. Employment included food service at Lincoln for 5 years, central food preparation department of the public schools at Chickasha High School for three years, after which, she was employed by the Washita Valley Community Action Agency as director of youth activities at Bullock Memorial Center, supervising art activities and table games. She cooked and served breakfast and afternoon snacks to as many as one hundred children each day. One daughter, parents, her brothers and sisters, 1 niece and 3 nephews preceded Ewilder in death. Survivors left to cherish her memories are: nieces: Dorothy McKenzie of Moore, Oklahoma, Wilma Sanders of Roswell, New Mexico, Patricia McKenzie of Fresno, California, Karen Buckner, Anita Davis, Mary Wheeler all of Dallas, Texas, Leatrica McKenzie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Dorothea McKenzie of Chickasha, Oklahoma. Nephews include: Russell Wright of Roswell, New Mexico, Reverend Richard McKenzie and Reverend Travis McKenzie of Sacramento, California, Ronald McKenzie, Wallace McKenzie and Reverend Heister McKenzie all of Chickasha, Oklahoma. A host of nieces and nephews and other relatives; beloved friends and adopted daughter, Mary P. Jones and family. Mother Holloway's motto was, "I work wherever my hands find there is work to do for the Master." Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, under the direction of the Brown/Christian Funeral Home --------------------------------------------------------------------
