All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 2 May 2004 DAVID GUY HOLCOMB Memorial services for David Guy Holcomb, age 64, a Weatherford, Oklahoma, resident, will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2004, 11:00 a.m. in "The Chapel" of Lockstone Funeral Home, with Rev. Lynn Brack officiating. David was born to Ernest Monar and Julia Miriam (Heald) Holcomb on December 14, 1939, in Weatherford, Okla., and passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2004, in the Weatherford Living Center. David graduated from Weatherford High School in 1958 as president of his Senior Class and started college at Southwestern, where he pledged Beta Tau Beta. During his senior year, he was the Student Senate vice president. Upon graduation from Southwestern, he worked in Washington D. C. for a short time, before mving to Colorado to work for Bishop Homes. He met and married Muriel Witters in Colorado, and then in 1964 he went to work for Steve Ness, selling ranch property. He moved to Oklahoma in 1986 to attend communication classes at Central State University. He moved to Chickasha and worked at radio station KRPT in Anadarko as a sales executive; and during this time, he married Eyrline Beets. He later began working for the Association of South Central Government as an information and referral specialist. David was always community-minded, and he was an instrument in the beginning of the Festival of Light. Along with this accomplishment, David was active in other civic events, such as the Home Beautification Award program and the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce Time Out program. David is survived by one sister, Ernestine Wright, of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one niece, Suzan Gates and her husband, Winston, of Weatherford; and one nephew, Harold Wright, and his wife, Carol, of Weatherford; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
