Holcomb, age 85, of Chickasha is pending with the McRay Funeral Home. Irma was born Feb. 28, 1919. She died Sept. 4, 2004. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 6 September 2004 IRMA RAE HOLCOMB Graveside service for Irma Rae Holcomb, age 85, of Chickasha, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at the Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Don Horton will officiate. Irma Rae Holcomb was born the daughter of John Ingles Lumley and Irpel Curtis Lumley on February 28, 1919, in Hennessey, Oklahoma. She died on September 4, 2004, in Chickasha. Irma grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. She received her college degree from Oklahoma College for Women, then went on to receive a Masters Degree in English. Irman married Curtis Holcomb on June 14, 1941, in Chickasha while she was still in school. Her husband entered the service during World War II, and she remained in Chickasha. Irma lived in Chickasha most of her life. During this time she worked as an administrative assistant at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, ran the county surveyors office during her husband's term, in office, and worked on the election board. Irma was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Inez Lumley, a brother, Irvin Lumley, and a son, John Holcomb. Survivors include: Husband: Curtis Laverne Holcomb of Chickasha, Granddaughter: Erin Holcomb of Conroe, Texas, Grandson Curtis Lynn Holcomb of Conroe, Texas, Other family and friends.
