Humphries, 53, of Chickasha, Okla., are pending with Ferguson Funeral Home. Patsy D. Humphries was born July 8, 1948, and died on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in Chickasha. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The Chickasha Express-Star 26 October 2001 Patsy Dale Humphries Another beautiful soul's journey in this life has ended. The sun has set on my journey. It does not matter when my journey started or ended. What matters is that I lived and what I did in between. I just pray that by living my 53 years, I touched someone's life. Emerson once wrote, "If one life has breathed easier because you lived, your life has been a success." I pray my life has been a success. Before my journey in life ended, the journey of my grandparents, William and Pearl Humphries, my mama Mae Humphries, my brother, Butch Humphries, two aunts, Louise Sperling and Bonnie Humphries, and five uncles, Terry Humphries, Tom Humphries, Jerry Humphries, Bobby Humphries and Herbert Sperling, all ended. But you see, death is not the victor. One of these days there is gonna be a glorious reunion. We'll see each other again and meet Jesus face to face. There are those who are near and dear to me whose journey is still going on. They are my precious son, Cody Madison, of the home, two step-children, Greg Madison, of Sacramento, California, and Tina Madison, of Chickasha, one daughter-in-law, Tammy Madison, of Sacramento, Calif., one uncle and aunt, Frank and Bonnie Humphries, Frisco, Texas, six grandchildren, and several cousins and many friends. I would especially like to thank two of my cousins, Janice Sperling and Chiquita McClain. I just can't thank them enough for all their love and concern and help for me and Cody. God bless you. I accepted Christ as my personal Saviour at an early age while attending Sharon Baptist Church. At the present time I was a member of First Baptist Church, First and Dakota. While a member there I held several different offices at different times. Those offices included: Sunday school teacher, assistant Sunday school superintendent, chairperson hospitality committee, secretary for General Mission, assistant announcement clerk, assistant chairperson for Circle No. 2, lesson instructor for Circle No. 2, assistant youth director, and started the Black History Program in February. On a number of occasions I spoke at several of the churches in the community. I would like to thank those churches, as well as my own, for being able to use the talent God gave me. I also served on the Human Relations Commission for three and one-half years. I have also written several articles for the local paper. My early education was at Friend School, where I attended school for eleven years and was active in sports. My senior year was at Am-Po. After I graduated from high school I attended Oklahoma State Tech. from 1966 to 1968, at which time I graduated. While attending OST I was vice president of Student council, secretary of the Rodeo Club and activity director for the sorority. After I graduated from OST I worked in the offices of Chickasha Mobile Homes for eight years. Upon leaving Mobile Homes I went to work at Arvin and worked there for 23 years. I retired in 1999 due to health problems. I wish to thank them for their help and their prayers. I would especially like to thank Perry Ramsey, who is no longer with the company, for all his help while he was there. I would also like to thank Ken Bush and Gary Grubbs and all my fellow workers for all their acts of kindness. I would also like to thank all the doctors and nurses. I would especially like to thank Dr. Bowen, who always made me feel like a person, not a patient. He always had time to ask me about my son. Someday we won't have to worry about cancer or any illness. Most of all, I want to thank God. I know without him that I would have been nothing. Father, God, thank you. Instead of complaining about what you don't have, thank God everyday for what you do have. Life for me wasn't always a bed of roses. But, Jesus didn't have it easy, so why should we have it any easier? But, you know, I had it better than most. I was blessed with family and friends that really scared and loved me. Be thankful everyday for the family and friends you have. God bless you, and remember, "I'll see you again." Love, Patsy Memorial services will be held at First Baptist Church, Fourth and Colorado, on Saturday, October 27, 2001, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a college trust fund for Cody Madison has been established at Local Oklahoma Bank, 628 Grand Avenue.
