Walter Earnest Handke was born March 26, 1934. He was the son of Simon and Jessie (Allison) Handke. He died Sunday, June 17, 2001 in Oklahoma City. Mr. Handke had lived in the Tuttle area most of his life. He had also lived in Yukon and Chandler. He was a truck driver and had worked for Safeway and Transcon. He served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Teamster Union, the Roadrunners Retirees of Transcon and the First Baptist Church of Newcastle. He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel, his parents, and two brothers, Frank Euguene Handke and Jimmie Charlie Handke. Survivors include three brothers, Ted Handke of Tuttle, Carl Handke and Tuttle, and Kenneth Waldon; two sisters, Bobbie Chaney of Oklahoma City and Wilmuth Cralle of Tuttle; three daughters, Susan Tice of Chandler, Okla., Becky Goodnight of Chandler and Lisa Milham of Chandler; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle.
