May was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, on October 23, 1934, to Rufus & Florence Bishop. She married Alfred Hendrickson October 13, 1954. May had a career in photography in the 1970's and later started a career in hanging wallpaper. She enjoyed working and cooking big dinners for her family. Her door was always open to everyone. Her home, to numerous kids, was thought of as a second home, friends and family alike. Early in her marriage to Al, they loved to square dance, play pool, and shuffleboard. Going to Las Vegas was the highlight of her life, she was always very lucky at the dollar slots. Her idea of a good vacation was to drive from Las Vegas to California to visit her sisters, then back to Las Vegas before returning home. May, before becoming ill, loved to go shopping. At one time she owned more white blouses than most department stores. She enjoyed sewing quilts and embroidering tea towels, many of the beautiful items she made for her family. She is survived by her her husband of 47 years, Alfred Hendrickson of the home; her son Larry Hendrickson & wife Diane of Noble, OK; 2 daughters, Vickie Keeton & husband Ray of Oklahoma City, OK, Nancy Haney & husband Lee of Newcastle, OK; 2 sisters, Goldie Griesman of Santa Rosa, CA, & Opal Armstrong of Santa Fe, NM; 4 grandchildren, Shane Keeton & wife Kari, Grady Hendrickson, Lacy Keeton, & Haley Haney; 2 step- grandchildren, Angie Vieth & husband David, Brandy Ferchau & husband Frank; 3 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jacob, & Emily; numerous nieces & nephews. May was like a second mother to Lynn Upchurch, Nita Landreth, Leona Lee, Torie Baumann, Randy Michael Baumann, Kimberly Koehn & Drake.... They called her grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Florence Bishop; 3 brothers, Estion, Frank, & Joe Bishop & 2 sisters, Geneva Baron, & Rosetta Dowdy. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 8, 2002 at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel with Jim Mustain officiating. Interment to follow at Moore City Cemetery.
