James had been playing basketball with team mates on the court in the basement and appeared well and hearty until after the practice when the boys were going to the dressing room to change clothes. About middle way in the hall James slumped and fell without uttering a sound. Immediately Dr. G. M. McVey was called and pulmoter equipment from the fire department of Chickasha was rushed to the scene of the tragedy. He was later pronounced dead due to heart failure. The sad news of James death has cast a shadow over the whole community, for most of his short but happy life was spent amoung us, and every heart was touched, with sympathy for the stricken ones, from whose fireside the light has fled. He was a freshman in our high school and during his brief school days, Jimmie's ways won the hearts of both teachers and pupils; and because of his death the school, so saddened, dismissed and his funeral was held at the High school auditorium, Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Robert G. Hedrick conducting the services at the school with sweet solemn music touching every heart. Loving hands tenderly laid the form to rest in the Verden cemetery, the somber sky being in true accord with the solemn scene. Yet above all came this comforting thought that the lad was spared earth's cares and sorrows, that his memory but forms another cord to draw his loved ones to the brighter home beyond. He leaves to mourn his departure in the immediate family, his mother and father, several sisters and brothers. Other than them, he leaves a host of relatives and friends in sad mourning.
