All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Verden News 27 August 1954 SERVICES HELD THURSDAY FOR MARTIN HENRY Services for Martin Henry were conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Verden, with Rev. Elvin Waters, pastor of the Pentecostal Church of God, officiating. Interment was in the Verden Cemetery with Hansen Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Henry had been seriously ill only a few days. Music for the service was rendered by the Pentecostal Church of God choir who sang "Sweet Bye and Bye," "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be" and "Meet You in the Morning." Mrs. E. R. Nelson was pianist. Casket bearers were R. H. Brown, Kirby Whitley, Harry Dodson, Cliff Morgan, Elmer Allen and Frank Stauffer. Mr. Henry was born February 16, 1885, at Sheridan, Grant County, Arkansas and passed away August 24, 1954 at the University Hospital, Okla. City, at the age of 69 years, six months and eight days. He came to Okla. and settled near Verden in 1901. He was united in marriage to Grace Evans in Anadarko on October 2, 1907. Since moving from the farm the couple has lived in Verden the past several years where they have been in business. Those left to mourn his departure include his wife of the home address, one son, Willard Henry of Chickasha; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Reynolds of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Mrs. Marguerite Whitley, Verden; five brothers, Emmett, Ben, Albert, Pat and Walter, all of Verden; one sister, Mrs. Belle Evans of Chickasha and a host of other relatives and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Grady County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/grady/grady.html
