The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ==================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 26 September 2002 MARCHIETA MAE HORTON Funeral services for Marchieta Mae Horton, 74, Chickasha, will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Laverty Baptist Church, Laverty, Oklahoma, southwest of Chickasha with Rev. Leon Shade, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Apache, Oklahoma, and Rev. Robert Bennett, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Cement, Oklahoma, and Rev. Monte Moran, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Thomas, Oklahoma, officiating. Mrs. Horton died Tuesday in a Chickasha hospital. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Mound Valley Cemetery, Thomas, Oklahoma, under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home, Fletcher, Oklahoma. She was born in Springfield, Illinois, on February 27, 1928, to Homer Meade and Sarah Lavina McClain. She moved with her family to Thomas, Oklahoma. She married Walter W. Horton in Thomas on September 17, 1947. Together they farmed west of Thomas for 30 years, and then moved to the Chickasha area in 1976 where they retired. She was a member of Laverty Baptist Church. Survivors include: 2 daughters: Lavina Rosemary Horton of the home, and Sandra Basham and husband Tim of Anadarko; son: James Walter Horton and wife Annie of Cement; 4 grandchildren: James (Mick), Joe, Joshua and Julie Horton; 2 great grandchildren: Sierra and Jenna Horton; brother: James McClain and wife Mollie of Thomas; sister-in-law Alice Horton of Thomas; 2 nieces: Joyce Currell and husband Kalvin of Bartlesville, and Linda Dillmon and husband Robert of Kansas. She was preceded in death by: 1 sister: Irma-Lee Horton, husband and parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Home for Children, 3800 N. May, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
