Orby John "OJ" Hurley was born October 31, 1924, in Meadows, Texas, the son of Orbie C. and Ola Mae (Weddle) Hurley, and died Saturday, December 22, 2001, in Chickasha. He married Evelyn Orum on March 31, 1943. They lived in the Chickasha area for over 20 years. Mr. Hurley worked for the City of Chickasha for 10 years in the water department. He also worked as an auto mechanic. Mr. Hurley served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. Mr. Hurley was preceded in death by: his parents, Orbie and Ola Mae Hurley, 2 brothers, Wayne and Gene Hurley, and 1 sister, Marie Buffer. Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn Hurley, of the home; 2 sons and their wives: Ted and Jennifer Hurley, of Bossier City, LA, Larry and Jeanette Hurley, of Fresno, CA; 1 daughter and her husband: Shirley and Dave Handy of Ada, Oklahoma; 1 brother and his wife: Alfred and Bertha Hurley of Chickasha, Oklahoma; 2 sisters: Crystal Lantz and husband, Kyle, of Nebraska, Faye Ralph of Fresno, CA; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
