Horrell was born Nov. 20, 1943 in Leedey, Oklahoma and died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003 in Chickasha. Interment will be in Rhea Cemetery, Leedey, Oklahoma, at 4 p.m., Monday Jan. 27, 2003 under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 27 January 2003 NOLAN SAMUEL (SAM) HORRELL Funeral services for Nolan Samuel (Sam) Horrell, 59, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 27, 2003, in the First Baptist Church of Chickasha. Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. in the Rhea Cemetery, in Leedey, Oklahoma. Nolan Samuel (Sam) Horrell was born November 20, 1943, on a farm northwest of Leedey, Oklahoma, the son of Emmitt Samuel and Viva Edith (Johnson) Horrell, and died Friday, January 24, 2003, in Chickasha. He attended school at Liberty Center and graduated from Leedey High School in 1962. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served with the First Marine Division, First Recon Battalion. After serving in the Marine Corps he joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He later drove a truck until his health forced his retirement in 1995. On February 25, 1965, Nolan married Peggy Robertson in the First Baptist Church in Leedey, Oklahoma. They moved to Chickasha in 1970. San enjoyed hunting and playing golf. He loved his two grandchildren and family. Sam was preceded in death by: Parents: Emmitt and Viva Horrell; 1 sister: Betty Jean Atkins; 1 brother: Dennis K. Horrell. His survivors are: Wife: Peggy Horrell of the home in Chickasha, OK; daughter and husband: Jennifer and Mark McCulley of Enid, OK; son and wife: Ken and Catrina Horrell of Chickasha, OK; grandson: Kellen S. Horrell; granddaughter: Grace Caroline McCulley; 1 brother and wife: Leroy and Juana Kay Penry of Leedey, OK; 1 sister and husband: Mary and Bob Devila of Fresno, CA; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Pallbearers will be, Bill Murray, Wes Roberson, Leroy Penry, Chad Horrell, Rex Penry, Jason Harris, Jack Harrell, and Mike Bevil. Interment will be in the Rhea Cemetery, Leedey, Oklahoma, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
