All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Mission Family Mortuary--Bakersfield CA Hammons, Earl Robert Memorial services for Earl Robert Hammons will be held at 1:00 on Friday, December 15. 2006 at Riverview Assembly of God Church, 315 May Street. Earl was born March 17, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Upon completion of his education in Alex, Oklahoma, he enlisted in the Army where he served his country for approximately five years. His military service included a tour of duty in Japan. Upon returning to civilian life, he settled in Bakersfield California where he began a career in the agricultural industry. He was employed with Cal-Cot, Ltd. for over forty years. In the summer of 1953, he met the love of his life, Bessie Montgomery. They were married on November 15, 1953. They shared the next 53 years, not only as man and wife, but as best friends. Earl was a faithful member of the Riverview Assembly of God Church. He loved his church family and the many years of fellowship he shared with them. He especially enjoyed listening to gospel music at the church. His favorite hymn. "I'll Fly Away", will be sung in his honor at the services. He is survived by four children - Bill Hammons and wife Brenda, Rick Hammons and wife Cindy, Sharon Rogers and husband Ron, Karen Rodgers and husband Jon; seven grandchildren - Cody Hammons and wife Brandi, Jessica Snelson, Candy Orr and husband Spencer, Amanda Snelson, Brian Snelson and wife Katie, Krystal Snelson, Jillian Elyse; six great grandchildren - Chase, Leisl, Tyler, Bridgitte, Tereasa, Axel. Visitation will be held at Missions Family Mortuary, 531 California Avenue, Fri., 9:00a.m. - Noon. In recognition of his many years of service to the church, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory to the youth ministries at Riverview Assembly of God Church.
